The St. James EMS Department held three free Compression Only CPR classes for the public at the Town of Saint James community center on March 11. Representatives from St. James EMS were on hand to demonstrate compression CPR techniques and provide a tutorial on how to properly use an automated external defibrillator (AED). Those in attendance were given the opportunity to practice compression only CPR techniques on dummies provided by the St. James EMS department. Bob Jensen with St. James EMS opened the sessions with a presentation on what to do in an emergency situation and symptoms to look for when diagnosing a potential heart attack or cardiac arrest.
